About This Site
checknursinghomeratings.com is a public interest website that presents CMS (Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services) nursing home inspection data in a clear, searchable, and easy-to-understand format.
The goal is simple: when a family is trying to find a nursing home for a loved one, or wants to check on the quality of a facility a family member already lives in, they should be able to find that information quickly and without navigating complex government portals or wading through commercial referral sites that have a financial interest in directing them to specific facilities.
The Data
All data comes from the CMS Provider Information dataset, which is published monthly and is freely available to the public at data.cms.gov. This site does not create, modify, or editorially influence the ratings — we present them as published by CMS.
The database is updated on the 3rd of every month, after CMS publishes the previous month's data. Each facility page shows the date the data was last processed by CMS.
What This Site Is Not
This site is not affiliated with or endorsed by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services or any government agency. It does not receive referral fees, does not sell leads to nursing homes, and does not accept paid placements. The star ratings shown are the official CMS ratings — not our own assessments.
A CMS star rating is one important data point, but it should not be the only factor in choosing a nursing home. We encourage families to visit facilities in person, speak with staff and current residents, and consult with healthcare professionals before making a decision.
